7 Summer Ways to Enjoy Your Tea

Read these diverse ways to sip, slurp, and even eat your tea as the perfect summer refreshment.

With hundreds of thousands of blends, the diversity of flavours in tea knows no bounds. But tea diversity doesn’t have to stop there. There are so many different uses for tea and ways to enjoy this delicious and nutritious beverage, beyond just sipping it from a tea cup.

For our theme this July, Gone to the Beach, we sent out mini cocktail umbrellas in our box, to enhance your beachside indulgence in the summer flavours we curated. We’ve also written this list of seven ways to take your tea to the next level so that you can adapt your steeps to all your summer adventures!

1. Soak chia seeds

Because of their high protein and omega-3 fats, chia seeds can be quite filling and are best consumed in smaller portions. A tall glass of iced tea with a tablespoon of soaked chia seeds is the perfect option for a healthy breakfast, or afternoon snack.

Adding a touch of spice and nutty smoothness, Almond Amaretto Biscotti from May’s box is our suggestion to pair with soaking chia seeds.

2. Make healthy homemade popsicles

________________________

If you’re all about healthy refreshments on the go, then homemade tea-popsicles are just the thing. Add fresh or dried fruit pieces for extra sweetness and the occasional burst of flavour.

CherryBana, a tangy all-fruit blend that was featured in our February teabox, is our suggestion for your healthy, homemade popsicles. Go ahead and plop in a few slices of fresh banana and/or dried cherries.

3. Add a slice of lemon, ginger, or both

________________________

Lemon and ginger have played a role in natural remedies for thousands of years. With world renowned immune boosting properties, lemon and ginger are also highly valued for their tangy and bold flavours.

Plop a slice of one or both for an added zing to your cup of tea! The best way to bring out their flavours is to add to your tea while it’s hot.

Our rooibos blend, Hawaiian Island Mango from July’s box would be perfectly complemented by a slice of ginger and/or lemon.

4. Use tea in a smoothie

What better way to beat the heat of summer, than with a fresh smoothie?

To keep this refreshing treat extra healthy, and give it a gentle caffeinated boost, use chilled green tea as the liquid to help perfectly blend your choice of frozen fruits.

Our favourite smooth-tea recipe is: frozen strawberries, fresh or frozen mangos, strawberry protein powder (optional), and our green tea from July’s box, Papaya Passion.

5. Explore plant-based creamers

________________________

The pleasure of a creamy cup of tea is perfect for an afternoon treat, or soft morning wake up. There are enough plant-based alternatives to enjoy a different taste every day of the week.

Although there aren’t as many diverse flavours (yet) as there are in tea, plant-based creamer is a great way to make an eco-friendly choice (not to mention cut out that little extra bit of lactose). With rice, oat, almond, soy, coconut, cashew, alternatives and more, there are plenty of flavours to discover!

Our favourite pairings with plant-based creamers are: Blissfully Blueberry from March’s box, with soy or rice milk and Earl Grey Dream from February’s box with almond or oat milk. To enjoy a lactose-free, tea frappe, add the sweetener of your choice to either of these pairingas then blend with ice!

    6. Steep with fresh herbs

    ________________________

Whether you pick your fresh herbs in your garden or get them at the supermarket, there’s no denying their incredible ability to elevate the flavour of a dish, even in small quantities.

Why not elevate your tea in the same way? The bold and simultaneously soft aroma of rosemary, the refreshing energy of mint, and the classic savor of thyme can be beautifully unfolded when infused in tea.

Try a tall glass of our herbal blend, Peach Pleasure steeped with a few sprigs of fresh mint, as a delicious iced accompaniment to your meals.

      7. Make sangria, the tea version

      ________________________

Fruity flavours are a must when it comes to summer treats. A tea based sangria is great for picnics and parties alike.

Have fun trying different combinations of tea blends and fruit slices. Who knows, maybe you’ll invent your own famous recipe.
